President's Cup Golf Outing

MOKENA COMMUNITY PARK FOUNDATION’S THIRD ANNUAL PRESIDENT’S CUP GOLF TOURNAMENT on Monday, July 14, 2014 at the Odyssey County Club was rained out. The new date is Friday August 1.  All proceeds benefit the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation.

51st Annual Blueberry Festival - SOLD OUT

Vendor Fees: $20 (by 4 p.m. on Friday, August 15)/ Event Day Vendor Fee: $25

Buyers are admitted FREE!

  • Registration fees are non-refundable.
  • Check-in time for vendors starts around 6:45 a.m.  Vendors that want spaces together must check-in together.
  • Vendor line-up starts in the southwest parking lot in the Main Park parking lot. Please follow the vendor signage for proper line-up instructions.
  • Late fee assessed when checking in after 8:00a.m.
  • Buyers admitted free at 8:00 a.m.
  • Bring your own table, chairs, etc. (15’ X 15’ area provided)
  • All vendors must be selling or trading item/s that individuals can receive on-site at event.
  • Sellers are allowed only one (1) vehicle per space for loading and unloading.
  • Vendors with vehicles and trailers must purchase additional spaces to accommodate length of vehicles.  
  • A $5 fee will be charged for each additional vehicle accompanying a seller to load/unload. 
  • Spaces are determined by staff on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Call the Park Office in advance if you are planning to sell food or drink items.  Restrictions apply.
  • Vendors are responsible for cleaning up their area at the end of the flea market. 
  • No trash or unsold items area to be left at your space.
  • All vendor spaces must be cleared by 3:30pm!!

 

Farm & Barn Fest

At Yunker Farm

Farm & Barn is an event held annually in the heart of Mokena at Yunker Farm that celebrates the significance of farming life and harvest time in Illinois’ history.  This unique event also gives you the opportunity to see and experience farm life during 10:00am-5:00pm through entertaining farming demonstrations such as sheep shearing, spinning, wood working, blacksmithing and more!  In addition, the day is filled with entertainment and old fashioned contests for kids of all ages including a pedal tractor pull provided by the Will County Farm Bureau.  New this year, Angus McRodeo, a kids mechanical bull ride will be available so get ready to saddle up! 

Flea Market

Times: 8:00a.m. – 2:00p.m.

Location:  East soccer fields at The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center

Baby Contest

Registration Fee: $5

Time:  Contest starts at 10:30a.m. 

Location: Yunker Farm (Main Stage)

Enter your little one into one of our three divisions of the contest.  Division 1:  9—12 months Girls/Boys; Division 2:  13—23 months Girls/Boys; Division 3:  24—36 months Girls/Boys  Clothing: No pageant wear, PLEASE Judging: Based on beauty/handsomeness (50%) and personality (50%). 

The 1st Place girl OR boy in each division will receive a trophy and prize package including a piggy bank with $25 cash from State Bank of Illinois-Mokena, TSS photography gift certificate, Four weeks of Play & Learn classes at Gymboree Play & Music Orland Hills and $25 Gymboree Gymbucks, stuffed animal and a two for one jump pass to Jump Zone Indoor Inflatable Party and Play Center in Mokena and more!  Total prize package value over $200 dollars.  

Runner-up winners in each division will also receive great prizes and all participants will receive a ribbon!

All contests will be held on or near the Main Stage except the Pedal Tractor Pull registration/contest (offered by the Will County Farm Bureau) is located in the North Barn.  Registration opens thirty (30) minutes prior to each contest start at the registration tent located near the Main Stage on event day. Limited registration is available per contest. The projected times are as follows:

11:00 a.m.     Little Farmer Sing-along (ages 3-5) Judged on costume and sing-along participation to “Old MacDonald Had a Farm”

11:30 a.m.     Miss Pigtail (ages 2-6) Who has the shortest, curliest, cutest pigtail?

12:00 p.m.     Most Winning Smile (ages 6-9) Do you like to smile? Do you want two front teeth for Christmas? Then say “cheese!”  

12:30 p.m.     Miss Ponytail (ages 7-10) Who has the longest ponytail in Mokena?

1:00 p.m.       Pedal Tractor Pull (ages vary by weight divisions) *Registration opens at noon in the North Barn. 

1:00 p.m.       Inflatable Guitar Contest (ages 6-11) Show us your favorite rockstar moves.

1:30 p.m.       Potato Sack Races (ages 7-12) Can you hop the fastest to the finish line in a potato sack?

2:00 p.m.       Hula Hoop Contest (ages 8-13) Who can keep the Hula Hoop swinging the longest?

2:30 p.m.       Pie Eating Contest (ages 9-14) If you love pie then this is the contest for you!!

3:00 p.m.       Seed Spitting Contest (ages 10+) Do you have a talent for long distance seed spitting?

7th Annual Quilt Show 

Times:  10:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

Location:  The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center - Fieldhouse

Many great quilts will be on display at The Oaks Field House during Farm & Barn Fest.  Entries are submitted by quilters from all over the south suburbs.  A People’s Choice award will be judged during the show.  To submit your quilt, contact the Special Events Department at 708-390-2416.  The deadline is Wednesday, August 6.

Country Concert

5:30p.m.-11:00p.m. at Yunker Farm

Attention country lovers!  Join us for a night of rockin’ fun with great bands including The MG3 Band and headliner, SLAMABAMA.  Alcohol, beer and wine are available for purchase.  $3/entry for adults 21 and over.  Children are allowed at no charge with parental supervision only.

Windy City Amusements – Carnival Ride Mega Pass

New this year, Mega Passes for unlimited carnival rides are available!  Ride all three (3) days from open until close with the MEGA PASS! Presale Mega Passes are available for purchase online only at www.windycityamusements.com/tickets for $60 through October 16 or available at the Windy City Ticket Booth at the Fest for $75.

The mega pass is valid for one person for the entire event and is non transferrable.  

Purchase Restrictions:

The purchaser listed on your order must be present for redemption and must bring a valid photo ID.  Please make sure the order is in the name of the person who will be present to redeem the tickets.  Ride height requirements apply - most rides require a minimum height of 36".  Absolutely no refunds will be given under any circumstance including weather.

Great Pumpkin Weigh-In Contest

Tote that hefty pumpkin to Main Stage in Main Park for the official weigh-in from 12:00p.m.-3:00p.m on Saturday, October 18.  Open to all ages.  Winners will be announced at the Main Stage at 3:00p.m.   

Jack-o-Lantern Contest

Bring your carved, painted and/or decorated pumpkins or goards to compete for great prizes!  All ages can participate.  Check-in near Main Stage and display between 12:00p.m.-3:00p.m on Saturday, October 18.  Prizes are based on creativity, originality and presentation.  Winners will be announced at the Main Stage at 3:00p.m.

Scarecrow Laboratory

This eerie experiment will result in the creation of a life-size scarecrow.  Hundreds of scarecrows will emerge from the lab by the completion of the event.  We supply the straw and clothes.  Limit one per family.  Available free with admission on Sunday, October 19 from 1:00p.m-4:00p.m. or while supplies last.

Costume Contest

Meet at the Main Stage at 1:30pm on Sunday, October 19.  Costumes will be judged in five (5) categories: Cutest Baby (under 2 yrs old), Funniest, Scariest, Prettiest and Most Original.  Great awards and prizes will be presented to the top three winners per category as well as one (1) Best Overall winner. 

Donations Wanted:

Drop off those unwanted shirts, pants, ties, belts, hats, etc. at the Park Office for our Scarecrow Laboratory M-F between 9:00a.m. - 5:00p.m no later than Friday, October 3.
