Park Closure Announcement

Dear Mokena Community Park District Residents & Patrons:

in order to prevent COVID-19 from spreading, we have followed Governor Pritzker’s Executive Order to keep groups from congregating in our parks and facilities; however, groups have continued to gather in certain locations.

As a result, we have made the difficult decision to CLOSE the following park facilities and amenities until further notice:
ALL PLAYGROUNDS AT ALL PARKS
ALL Basketball Courts/Hoops, Sand Volleyball Courts & Ballfields at ALL PARKS
• Oaks Recreation/Fitness Center
• Dog Park at Yunker Park
• Skate Park at Grasmere Park
• Parking Lots to Oaks Center & Main Park

PLEASE REMEMBER TO PICK UP AFTER YOUR DOGS!

Park pathways and green space will remain open at this time. Please unplug from technology for a while and utilize these areas to: go for a walk, go for a run or ride your bike to get some fresh air with members of your immediate household. If you visit one of our parks, you must follow the Center for Disease Control (CDC) recommendations - practice safe social distancing (6-foot distance from others outside your household) and stay home if you are sick.

Note: Park restrooms are not open at this time. District staff continue to pick up garbage on Fridays and on an as needed basis.

The best we can all do at this time is take precautions to focus on the health of our community. Please visit mokenapark.com and facebook for updates as we are working diligently to provide ways for you to stay active, healthy and engaged in the community during this unprecedented time. Send questions and concerns to info@mokenapark.com.

We will get through this together!
