The 34th Disney On Ice spectacular will bring the Academy Award® winning and number one animated feature film of all time, Disney’s Frozen, to life at the United Center!  The Academy Award® winning tale will be told live for the first time in this production, capturing the dynamic between two royal sisters, Anna and Elsa. Anna, a girl with an extraordinary heart, embarks on an epic journey to find her sister, the magical Elsa, who is determined to remain secluded as she finally feels free to test the limits of her powers. Rugged mountain man Kristoff, his loyal reindeer Sven, the lovable and hilarious snowman Olaf and the mystical trolls help Anna along the way in this story about love conquering fear. Audiences will get to sing along with such musical masterpieces as “Let It Go,” “Do You Want to Build a Snowman?” and “Fixer Upper.”

You might be wracking your brain to come up with the perfect gift for your mom, aunt or grandmother for Valentine’s Day but what better way to say 'I love you' then with the most romantic of all sports - bowling. It is a great way for mom and son to be together in a fun environment. Showcase of Art

February 28-March 1, 2015 at The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center

Join us at the Annual Showcase of Art displaying the work of our talented students, including youth, teen, and adult students, enrolled in the many Park District art programs. From oils, acrylics, and watercolors, to sand castles and clay sculpture, you are sure to enjoy this diverse display of art and crafts. The exhibit will then remain open during the entire weekend for your viewing pleasure.

Anyone who has participated in an art or craft class at Mokena Park District in the past year is invited to display their artwork or projects that were completed while participating in one of the Park District classes, at the Showcase of Art February 28-March 1, 2015. 22nd Annual Family Faire

On behalf of the T.E.A.M Asset Committee, we would like to invite you and your children to the annual Family Faire for a FREE pancake breakfast and FREE admission to fun, hands-on activites, games and entertainment. The T.E.A.M Asset Committee includes a collaboration of local park districts, churches and school districts in the Lincoln-Way area.  

This year’s Family Faire Celebration will be held on Saturday, March 7, 2015 at Lincoln-Way Central High School North Cafeteria and North Gym (1801 East Lincoln Highway) in New Lenox from 9:00am-1:00pm. This year’s theme, “High Expectations For Greatness!” will once again involve a community- wide program with development of display banners designed by area schools, park districts, villages, churches, and other interested organizations that will be hung at the event.  

We ask children to bring a NEW small toy (no stuffed animals please) to be donated to the Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation.

Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival Trip

Woofstock: A Bark in the Park & Pet Parade

Date: Sunday, May 17, 2015

Location: Main Park-Picnic Grove (10925 W La Porte Road, Mokena)

FREE to participate! 

We will kick-off the event with the Pet Parade which includes a ¼ mile fun walk along the Main Park wooded trail at 1:30 p.m. – Registration begins at 1:00 p.m.  All animals are welcome for the parade.  Parade prizes will be awarded to the top winners in the following categories:

  • Best Dressed
  • Most Exotic
  • Most Original
  • Smallest Pet
  • Largest Pet

 *Costumes are optional! 

After the parade, an educational show about reptiles will be provided by Cold Blooded Creatures followed by an afternoon of canine contests for our four-legged friends. The top three winners will be awarded in each contest. Start training your pooch now so they can place in our contests:

  • Hot Dog Relay

Sponsors, Vendors and give-a-ways will be available throughout the afternoon.  For the safety of your dog and others, please be sure the dog’s vaccinations are current.  All dogs must be on a leash.


Outdoor Flea Market - May

Date:  Sunday, May 24

Times: 8:00am-2:00pm

Location: Oaks East Soccer Field (10847 W La Porte Road)

Sell your old and new wares at this annual Flea Market.  We welcome fresh produce, new and used crafts, clothing, tools, etc.  Spend a day selling and swapping.  Groups/organizations welcome.  Concessions will be available.

-Pre-registration fee $20 (by 4pm on Friday, May 22) / Registering the day of the event is $25

-15’ X 15’ area provided for set-up and additional space for one (1) vehicle behind booth must fit in 15' x 15'

-If you park a vehicle and trailer (adding up to 30 ft long) you must purchase two (2) spaces.  Any vehicles and trailers longer will need to purchase the correct amount of spaces as to the length of their vehicles.

-A $5 fee will be charged for each additional vehicle accompanying a seller to load/unload

-Registration fees are non-refundable

-Check-in time for vendors: 6:45 a.m. Vendors that want spaces together must check-in together (NO EXCEPTIONS).  Spaces cannot be reserved for late-comers

-Any vendor arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be assessed at $10 late fee

-Buyers admitted free at 8:00 a.m.

-Bring your own table, chairs, etc. 

-Spaces are determined by staff on a first-come, first-serve basis

-Call the Park Office in advance if you are planning to sell food or drink items.  Restrictions apply.

-Vendors are allowed to sell fresh produce.

-All vendors must be selling or trading item/s that individuals can receive on-site at event.

-Vendors are responsible for cleaning up their area at the end of the flea market. No trash or unsold items area to be left at your space

-All vendor spaces must be cleared by 3:30pm!!

Summertime Stride 5K

Date:  Saturday, June 6, 2015 (rain or shine)

Time:  8:30am 5K Run & Walk start (9:30am Kids Dash start)

NEW Start/Finish Location:  Willowview Park (11420 West 197th Street, Mokena)

Registration times:  7:30am-8:25am at registration tent on event day in Willowview Park parking lot

Registration Fees:  5K Run & Walk:  $20 pre-registration by 5pm on Thursday, June 5; $25 day of event

T-shirt:  Dri-fit t-shirts will be provided to the first 300 paid 5K Run/Walk registrants.  We will make our best efforts to accommodate your preferred t-shirt size. T-shirts are running big!

Event Components:  5K (3.1 mile) USATF-certified course and transponder-timed run and fun walk followed by kids dashes, refreshments, entertainment and an awards ceremony.

Course/Split Times/Water:  The certified course is run out and back primarily on streets throughout Mokena. Split times & markers and water station will be available on the course. 

Kid’s Dashes:  Registered children 10 and under can participate in kids dashes at approximately 9:30am from the start line.  Kid’s dash distances and heats will vary by age.  All participants will receive a ribbon.  1st Place winners will receive prizes.   

Awards:  An awards ceremony will start after the kids dashes have completed and will include awards to the Best Overall Male and Female run winners as well as the top three winners in the following age categories:  9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.

Refreshments/Entertainment:  Refreshments will be available following the run/walk including water, fruit, bagels and more!

Beneficiary: A portion of the proceeds benefit Honor Flight Chicago who was founded to recognize Chicagoland’s World War II veterans by flying them all-expense-paid to Washington DC for a day of honor, remembrance and celebration.
