President's Cup Golf Outing

Whiffle Ball Homerun Derby - July 18

Saturday, July 18 at The Oaks East Field - 9:30 a.m. check-in. This exciting new event allows boys and girls to compete in one of our nation's favorite backyard games. Contest is open to boys and girls in the following age divisions: 6-7. 8-9, 10-11, 12-13 - boys and girls competing seperately. Age is as of December 31, 2015. Park District will supply bats and whiffle balls, participants will supply their own pitcher. Top scorer in each division wins a prize. Fee of $10 for resients, $12 for non-residents. Pre-register at at www.mokenapark.com, or in person at the Administration Center or The Oaks.

 

Outdoor Flea Market - July

Date:  July 19

Times: 8:00am-2:00pm

Location: Main Park - 10925 La Porte Rd.

Sell your old and new wares at this annual Flea Market.  We welcome fresh produce, new and used crafts, clothing, tools, etc.  Spend a day selling and swapping.  Groups/organizations welcome.  Concessions will be available.

-Pre-registration fee $20 (by 4pm on Friday, July 17 / Registering the day of the event is $25

-15’ X 15’ area provided for set-up and additional space for one (1) vehicle behind booth must fit in 15' x 15'

-If you park a vehicle and trailer (adding up to 30 ft long) you must purchase two (2) spaces.  Any vehicles and trailers longer will need to purchase the correct amount of spaces as to the length of their vehicles.

-A $5 fee will be charged for each additional vehicle accompanying a seller to load/unload

-Registration fees are non-refundable

-Check-in time for vendors: 6:45 a.m. Vendors that want spaces together must check-in together (NO EXCEPTIONS).  Spaces cannot be reserved for late-comers

-Any vendor arriving after 8:00 a.m. will be assessed at $10 late fee

-Buyers admitted free at 8:00 a.m.

-Bring your own table, chairs, etc. 

-Spaces are determined by staff on a first-come, first-serve basis

-Call the Park Office in advance if you are planning to sell food or drink items.  Restrictions apply.

-Vendors are allowed to sell fresh produce.

-All vendors must be selling or trading item/s that individuals can receive on-site at event.

-Vendors are responsible for cleaning up their area at the end of the flea market. No trash or unsold items area to be left at your space

-All vendor spaces must be cleared by 3:30pm!!

June Concert in the Park RAIN DATE - Sunday, July 26

The June Concert in the Park has been rescheduled for Sunday, July 26 from 7-9pm at Main Park!  Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and come out to enjoy our FREE concert in the park featuring The Baked Potatoes from 7-9pm!

The Baked Potatoes have been entertaining the south suburbs of Chicago for years and perform radio favorites primarily from the 50's, 60's, and 70's.  The Baked Potatoes specialize in classic rock with an emphasis on fan favorites such as the Beatles, CCR, Eric Clapton and many more!

Farm & Barn, held annually in the heart of Mokena at Yunker Farm, celebrates the significance of farming life and harvest time in Illinois’ history.  This unique event also gives guest the opportunity to see and experience farm life during 10:00am-5:00pm through entertaining farming demonstrations such as sheep shearing, wood working, blacksmithing and more!  In addition, the day is filled with entertainment and old fashioned contests for kids of all ages.

Rules:

1)      Registration will be limited to 10 participants per division

2)      No hands can be used

3)      The first person to finish his/her whole pie and stand up will be declared the winner!

4)      Any visible signs of sickness will cause disqualification.

5)      A completed registration form with acknowledgement of the waiver must be signed by all contestants prior to the start of each contest. Children under 18 must also have a parent or guardian present, and must also have a parent or guardian’s signature on their registration form.

6)      In the event of a tie, the judges will determine a first place winner based on who ends up wearing the most pie and the biggest smile.

 

New Divisions and Times:

2:30PM: 8-10 year girls/boys

3:00PM: 11-13 year girls/boys

3:30PM: 14-18 year girls/boys

8th Annual Quilt Show and Competition

10:00a.m.-5:00p.m.

The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center 

A variety of quilts will be on display at The Oaks Field House during Farm & Barn Fest.  Entries are submitted by quilters from all over the south suburbs.  A People’s Choice award will be judged during the show.  To submit your quilt, contact the Special Events Department at 708-390-2416 by August 1.

 

Country Concert

5:30p.m.-11:00p.m. at Yunker Farm

Attention country lovers!  Join us for a night of rockin’ fun with great bands including Fire Chicken and headliner, WILD DAISY.  Alcohol, beer and wine are available for purchase.  $3/entry for adults 21 and over.  Children are allowed at no charge with parental supervision only.  

 

NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick

NFL Punt, Pass, Kick Event

The NFL and USA Football wants every child to be given an equal opportunity to complete.  This FREE program creates a lively and engaging forum for boys and girls to complete separately against their peers in punting, passing, and kicking.  Contest is open to boys and girls divisions as follows:  6-7, 8-9, 10-11, and 12-13 (boys and girls competing separately).  Age is determined as of December 31, 2015.  Top scorer for all the divisions from each Local Competition will advance to the Sectional Competition in October.  Starting June 1, visit www.nflppk.com for more information and to register.

Woofstock: A Bark in the Park & Pet Parade

Date: Sunday, September 13, 2015

Times: 1:00p.m. - 4:00p.m.

     Pet Parade Registration: 1:00p.m.-1:30p.m/Woofstock Contest Registration: 1:00p.m.–2:00p.m. (no pre-registration)

Location: Main Park-Picnic Grove (10925 W La Porte Road, Mokena)

FREE to participate! 

We will kick-off the event with the Pet Parade which includes a ¼ mile fun walk along the Main Park wooded trail at 1:30 p.m. – Registration begins at 1:00 p.m.  All animals are welcome for the parade.  Parade prizes will be awarded to the top winners in the following categories:

  • Best Dressed
  • Most Exotic
  • Most Original
  • Smallest Pet
  • Largest Pet

 *Costumes are optional! 

Following the parade is an afternoon of canine contests for our four-legged friends. The top three winners will be awarded in each contest. Start training your pooch now so they can place in our contests: 

  • Woof Off
  • Look-A-Like
  • Best Tail Wagger
  • Hot Dog Relay

For the safety of your dog and others, please be sure the dog’s vaccinations are current.  All dogs must be on a leash.
