Showcase of Art
February 25-26, 2017 at The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center
Join us at the Annual Showcase of Art displaying the work of our talented students, including youth, and teen students, enrolled in the many Park District art programs. From oils, acrylics, and watercolors, to sand castles and clay sculpture, you are sure to enjoy this diverse display of art and crafts. The exhibit will remain open during the entire weekend for your viewing pleasure.
ART SHOW INVITATION
Anyone who has participated in an art or craft class at Mokena Park District in the past year is invited to display their artwork or projects that were completed while participating in one of the Park District classes, at the Showcase of Art February 25-26, 2017. Cinderella Ball - SOLD OUT
Every little girl is a princess, and Dad, here’s your chance to treat her like one! A special date for just the two of you with an afternoon or evening of dancing and special memories. Refreshments and music will make this an evening of lasting memories. Don’t forget your cameras for that picture perfect Father-Daughter moment (TSS Photography will also be on-site for professional photo op). Ages 5-10. Fee of $29 per resident couple and $12 each additional child. No refunds for this event.

Bunco & Bingo for Older Adults - March
On march 23, join your friends at The Oaks every other month, and enjoy coffee and treats while playing Bunco and Bingo for some fun prizes! Age: 55+ Registration deadline: One week before date of event.
Location: The Walnut Room at the Oaks.
Flashlight Egg Hunt for Ages 10-18
The Quest for the Golden Egg begins! Come on out to Main Park to challenge your fiends in finding the most treat filled eggs using only a flashlight! One winner will find the golden egg and win the official Golden Egg prize! Don’t forget to bring your flashlight. Advance registration is required. Please note: this event may not take the full hour so parents, please feel welcome to stick around during the event! Age 10-18 years. Thursday, March 30 - 8:30-9:30 p.m. in the Main Park Picnic Grove $12 R/ $14 NR Registration Deadline: March 22, 2017 (or while space is available)
Mother's Day Tea
On Saturday, may 13, spend a memorable day at Yunker Farm with your Mother. Enjoy Tea, Brunch & memorable moments. Each family will create a teacup family garden to take home. The cost of this event covers brunch, tea and a craft for the family! No refunds for this event. Saturday, May 13, 2017 / 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Fee: $14 R/ $17 NR per person. Woofstock and Pet Parade
We will kick-off the event with the Pet Parade which includes a ¼ mile fun walk along the Main Park wooded trail at 1:30 p.m. – Registration begins at 1:00 p.m. All animals are welcome for the parade. Parade prizes will be awarded to the top winners in the following categories:
- Best Dressed
- Most Exotic
- Most Original
- Smallest Pet
- Largest Pet
*Costumes are optional! After the parade, an educational show about reptiles will be provided by Cold Blooded Creatures followed by an afternoon of canine contests for our four-legged friends will begin at apprx. 2:00p.m. Start training your pooch now so they can place in our contests: Best Trick, Most Obedient, Ultimate Frisbee Catch and Hot Dog Relay! Vendors, raffle, and give-a-ways will be available throughout the afternoon. For the safety of your dog and others, please be sure the dog’s vaccinations are current. All dogs must be on a leash.

Cabaret - Theatre at the Center
On Sunday, May 21 - Welcome to the Kit Kat Club in 1930s Berlin, where a mischievous Emcee invites us to join cabaret singer Sally Bowles and an American writer searching for inspiration, in a world on the brink. Winner of eight Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Original Score, this timeless classic features "Maybe This Time," "The Money Song," "Willkommen" and "Cabaret."
Before the show, we will enjoy a buffet Brunch in the dining room of the Theatre. The buffet table is brimming with delicious breakfast and luncheon dishes for our all-you-can-eat brunch.
Champagne, coffee, tea and ice tea are included. Registration Deadline: April 21 Fee: $98 (Fee includes mini-coach transportation, ticket and brunch)

Outdoor Flea Market - May

Sell your old and new wares at this annual Flea Market. We welcome fresh produce, new and used crafts, clothing, tools, etc. Spend a day selling and swapping. Groups/organizations welcome. Concessions will be available.

Summertime Stride 5K
Date: Saturday, June 3, 2017 (rain or shine)
Time: 8:30 a.m. 5K Run & Walk start (Approx 9:15 a.m. Kids Dash start)
Start/Finish Location: Willowview Park (11420 West 197th Street, Mokena)
Registration times: 7:30 a.m. – 8 25 a.m. at registration tent on event day in Willowview Park parking lot
*Early Bird Registration (Dri-fit t-shirt guaranteed): $20 by Wednesday, May 3
*5K Run & Walk: $20 pre-registration by 5pm on Thursday, June 1 (we cannot guarantee t-shirt)

T-shirt: Dri-fit/cooling performance t-shirts will be guaranteed to the pre-registrants of the 5K registered by Wednesday, May 4. We will make our best efforts to accommodate your preferred t-shirt size. T-shirts are running big!
Event Components: 5K (3.1 mile) USATF-certified course and transponder-timed run and fun walk followed by kids dashes, refreshments, entertainment and an awards ceremony.
Course/Split Times/Water: The certified course is run out and back primarily on streets throughout Mokena. Split times & markers and water station will be available on the course.
Kid’s Dashes: Registered children 10 and under can participate in kid’s dashes at approximately 9:30am from the start/finish line. Kid’s dash distances and heats will vary by age. All participants will receive a ribbon/prize.
Awards: An awards ceremony will start after the kids dashes have completed and will include awards to the Best Overall Male and Female run winners as well as the top three winners in the following age categories: 9 & under, 10-14, 15-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+.
Refreshments/Entertainment: Refreshments will be available following the run/walk including Hinckley Springs water, fruit, bagels and more!
Benefactor: A portion of the proceeds benefit Disabled Patriot Fund who was founded by a group of area business people and local officials who came together because of a common interest , to help disabled American veterans who have fought in the War on Terrorism. The goal of the Disabled Patriot Fund is to provide financial relief for local U.S. military families who have been adversely affected by the War on Terror.
