Basketball Courts

For pick up games, use the full size basketball courts at Main, Buske, Grasmere, Green Meadows, Hecht, HeritageMarley Creek and Prairie Ridge park sites. Also available is one-half court located at Tinley Gardens Park.

The Oaks Disc Golf Course

Located at 10847 LaPorte Road, behind The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center. This nationally acclaimed PDGA,35-acre Disc Golf course offers 27 holes under the majestic oak trees and open fields to play this fun and challenging sport for all ages and ability levels. Dogs are not permitted on course. Fines up to $1,000. Ordinance 733.The Oaks Disc Golf Course is open from dawn to dusk. Free player registration required. Registration cards available at The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center. Two forms of identification required.

Dog Park

The Park ‘n Bark Dog Park is open year-round from dawn to dusk. Portions of the dog park may be closed periodically for maintenance. An annual pass is required for admittance. Dogs must be at least 6 months of age, and have the following immunizations: Rabies, Hepatitis, Parvovirus, and Distemper. Proof of current vaccinations will be required. To obtain a pass, visit the Administration Center during regular business hours. There are small dog and large dog sections, dogs over 30 pounds cannot be in the small dog section. Picnic Groves

Picnic reservations will be accepted on a first-come, first-serve basis, beginning March 1 for the current year. Inquire at the Park Office, 708-390-2401.

Pickleball Courts

Pickleball is one of the fastest growing sports in the country. According to the Sports & Fitness Industry Association (SFIA) 2017 Pickleball Participant Report, pickleball currently has 2.815 million players in the US – an increase of 12.3% over last year.  The Mokena Community Park District currently has courts striped for Pickleball usage at Fox Ridge Park and Prairie Ridge Park.  Outdoor Courts close for the winter and will re-open (weather permitting) on or around April 1. There are 6 dedicated pickleball courts at Hecht Park. They are closed for the winter. 

The dual use (tennis and pickleball) courts at Fox Ridge Park are designated for open pickleball play on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. On Mondays and Wednesdays, from 4:00-8:00 p.m., the courts will be designated for open tennis play. All other times are available for either sport on a first-come, first-served basis. 

Playgrounds

Playground structures are located at Acorn Park, Boulder Ridge North, Brookside Meadows, Buske, Fox Ridge, Grasmere, Green Meadows, Hecht, Heritage, Main, Manchester Cove, Marley Creek, McGovney, Riivendell, Prairie Ridge, Timbers Point, Tinley Gardens, and Willowview parks. Mother’s benches also provided.

Roller Hockey Rinks

If you enjoy the fast action of roller hockey, then we have just the place for you. Grab your skates and drop by Buske or Grasmere Parks, for an exciting pick-up game of roller hockey. Goals and nets are provided.

Sand Volleyball Courts

Three lighted, regulation size, sand volleyball courts are open for play at Main Park, except for during league play. One full-size court is also available at Prairie Ridge Park during daylight hours. 

Splash Pad

The Yunker Farm Splash Pad has closed for the 2020 season. Weather permitting, the Splash Pad will open for the 2021 season on Tuesday, June 1, 2021.  Hours, fees, etc. will be announced in the Winter brochure.

Splash Pad party rentals for the 2021 season will be accepted on a first-come, first served basis beginning March 1, 2021 at both the Administration Center and The Oaks Recreation & Fitness Center. Pricing, hours, and availability will be in our Winter brochure.

Tennis Courts 

Four outdoor courts with lighting are available for your enjoyment at Main Park. Outdoor courts are also available at Fox Ridge, and Prairie Ridge Parks. The tennis courts at Buske are closed for repair. One 60″ court and four 36″ youth courts are available at Grasmere Park for the younger set. Courts close for the winter and will re-open in April. (wether permitting)

Walking/Jogging Trail

A one half-mile, wooded trail is available for your enjoyment at Main Park. A one-half mile walking path is available at Green Meadows Park. Buske, Fox Ridge, Grasmere, Hecht, and Marley Creek park sites all have walking paths for your health and exercise.

Skate Park

Mokena Park’s extreme outdoor facility is located at Grasmere Park. Quarter pipes, combo half pipe, bauer box, pyramid, slider, and a launch ramp are sure to bring some fun and adventure into your life. Skatepark closes in the winter and re-opens around April.
